Genesis NFT registry.

The first 75 validators to take an active-set slot are the genesis cohort. Each receives two artefacts: a permanent on-chain marker (non-transferable, attached to the original address forever) and a tradeable Genesis NFT (freely transferable, no protocol-level function).

Cohort marker versus Genesis NFT The cohort marker is permanently bound to the original validator address. The Genesis NFT is freely tradeable. They are separate artefacts. No cohort slots filled — cohort opens at chain activation.
Cohort marker

Permanent. Non-transferable. Records position (1–75), activation epoch, and a commitment to the chain state at activation. Survives slot transfer, slashing, exit. It records who you were at the moment of activation, not what you later did.

Genesis NFT

Tradeable. No protocol-level function. A cultural artefact a cohort validator may hold, gift, or sell. Holding the NFT does not make you a validator; selling it does not strip the marker from the original address.
